This Elderflower Gin and Tonic cocktail gets its subtle floral sweetness from St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur, along with Fever-Tree Elderflower Tonic Water. Elderflowers are actually handpicked to make both of these ingredients.
What is St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur?
St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur is a French liqueur that’s made from handpicked elderflowers. It has a natural, floral, sweet flavor with hints of pear and honeysuckle. It’s used to make elegant cocktails, such as the Margarita or Old Fashioned, and this Elderflower Gin and Tonic recipe!

How to Make an Elderflower Gin and Tonic
A gin and tonic is one of the easiest cocktails to make at home! You simply mix 4 ingredients in a glass with ice – your favorite gin, plus St-Germain, tonic water, and lime juice. The only secret you need to know is that the overall flavor of this drink heavily depends on the specific gin and the quality of the tonic water you use.
For this cocktail, I like to use Bombay Sapphire Gin. But you can use your favorite gin in this recipe. I highly recommend using Fever-Tree Elderflower Tonic Water, since it goes nicely with the St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur.
If you don’t have St-Germain, you can leave it out and make a classic gin and tonic using the same amounts of gin, tonic water, and lime as listed in the recipe.
Elderflower Gin and Tonic
Ingredients
- 2 oz Bombay Sapphire Gin
- 1 oz St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur
- 4 oz Fever-Tree Elderflower Liqueur
- Juice from 1/4 of a fresh lime
- wedge of lime for garnish
- ice
Instructions
- Add ice to your favorite cocktail glass.
- Add the gin, St-Germain, and tonic water.
- Cut a lime into quarters, and squeeze one quarter of the lime into the glass.
- Gently stir to combine, and garnish with a fresh wedge of lime.
Notes
- If you don’t have St-Germain Elderflower liqueur, you can simply leave it out. The measurements for the remaining ingredients still make a perfect gin and tonic.
- Make sure to use high quality tonic water for this drink. It makes a huge difference in the taste! My favorite is Fever-Tree Elderflower Tonic Water.
