Kitchen Tools and Equipment
Here’s everything you’ll need to make this Raspberry Vanilla Syrup recipe. If you’re looking for recommendations for kitchen tools or ingredients, check out the Recipe Resources section at the bottom of this blog post.
- Small saucepan with a pour spout
- Spoon or spatula
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Fine mesh sieve
- Large glass liquid measuring cup for straining syrup into
- Glass bottle or jar for storage
Ingredients
- Frozen raspberries
- Sugar
- Water
- Lemon juice
- Vanilla extract
How to Make Raspberry Vanilla Syrup
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine raspberries, sugar, water, and lemon juice. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and continue heating for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh sieve into a large liquid measuring cup with a spout to remove the seeds. If the strainer gets clogged, rinse it out, and then strain the rest of the syrup through.
Stir in the vanilla extract and let the syrup cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes or so.
Store in a glass bottle or jar with a lid in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Raspberry Vanilla Syrup Recipe Tips and Variations
- For this recipe I like to use frozen raspberries. I can keep them in the fridge and not have to worry about the raspberries going bad before I have a chance to use them. But you can definitely use fresh raspberries if you prefer!
- For the vanilla extract, I like to use Watkins Baking Vanilla for the best vanilla flavor in this recipe. If you’d like to make a raspberry simple syrup without the vanilla flavor, you can leave out the vanilla extract.
- For the fresh lemon juice, if you don’t have a lemon on hand, you can use bottled lemon juice.
A few final tips on making this recipe:
- A saucepan with a pour spout will make it so much easier to strain your syrup!
- I also recommend straining the syrup into a glass measuring cup that also has a pour spout, since you’ll need to transfer the syrup to its storage container after its strained.
- You can store the syrup in a glass jar or bottle with a lid. You can find decorative syrup bottles on Amazon or Etsy, or you can reuse a maple syrup bottle that you may have on hand.
